While these are certainly highlights of the city, the Hong Kong island also hides a treasure trove of lesser-known attractions that offer unique experiences for the discerning traveller, of which deserves a good spot on your travel itinerary.

 

Sok Kwu Wan on Lamma Island

While Lamma Island is known for its hiking trails, the quieter village of Sok Kwu Wan on the eastern side offers a peaceful escape. Enjoy fresh seafood at waterfront restaurants, take a leisurely stroll along the harbour, or hike to the scenic Mo Tat Wan Beach for picturesque views.

Kowloon Walled City Park

Yim Tin Tsai Village

Located on an uninhabited island near Sai Kung, Yim Tin Tsai Village is a restored Hakka village frozen in time. In this village, whose name means 'Little Salt Pan", you will find the only place in Hong Kong where salt is produced today. Since receiving the UNESCO Asia-Pacific Award for Cultural Heritage Conservation in 2005, the world heritage island has become one of Hong Kong’s most popular day trip destinations in recent years.

Nan Lian Garden

Tucked away in the heart of Diamond Hill, Nan Lian Garden is an exquisite example of a classical Chinese garden designed in the Tang dynasty style. In this tranquil Hong Kong park, stroll along winding paths, cross elegant bridges, and admire the lotus ponds and bonsai trees. The garden also houses the Chi Lin Nunnery, an exquisite wooden temple complex.
